The decor of a person’s home is something that is useful in determining what kind of human being they are, which is why we shamelessly notice the decorating style of most people when we visit their home.
Both the strong likes or dislikes of our personalities can be easily determined by paying attention to the way our homes are decorated. The most practical among us might show their true colors in the way in which they incorporate efficient storage solutions in their kitchens or other rooms in the home. On the other hand, if you pay close attention to the lounging areas of many individuals, you can find a key to their personalities therein, as a natural tones indicate a hardworking person’s desire to relax.
Conversely the red tones and satin sheets we use to decorate our bedroom would reveal a very different side to our personality â one that not everyone would see! That’s a good tip for determining the decor for our homes – have different plans for public versus private areas. You might decide to have a party, for example, and won’t you want to have definite separate between private areas and the areas open to the attendees?
Generally speaking, because bedrooms and associated areas will not be seen by anyone other than the home owner and close friends, you can save the luxury for those areas. A very popular part of any decor is flooring, and the type of floor that you choose will depend on how highly traveled your floor is. Your character, however, is definitely noticeable in the color and type of flooring you pick. A luxurious wool carpet would be ideal underfoot in the bedroom, but a hard wearing laminate would be more practical for the hallway.
The accessories you choose will also give big tips in what kind of decor you choose. Lighting is a definite tool that should be used to your advantage, as they invariably affect how the room is perceived. Whether you are looking for more light that you actually need, or simply looking to light areas for aesthetic reasons, a spotlight is a great way to give your home the extra light it needs. The rest of your home can be decorated in this manner too.
If you like to highlight objects and possessions that matter to you, spotlights and single light fittings can do this very well. Mood lighting may fit the needs of a minimalist decorator better, however. You may not realize it, but the decor in any home says a lot about the type of person living there.
