On  redesigning your restaurant, furniture is a  vital  requirement. Style and practicality are the two  important  elements  to think about.  Study  our Restaurant Furniture Buyers Guide and discover a fresh  look  for your restaurant . Restaurant tables and chairs are the  main  vocal  area  of your restaurant. It’s where your  clients  sit,  chat  and  savour  their  food  and the  primary  thing that people notice when they walk through  your  door. There are a whole range of restaurant tables and chairs, so how do you choose ?

Well, you  need to  think about appropriate styles and materials, they can make a  dramatic   difference  to the ambience of your restaurant. Have a look at other restaurants you admire  the style of and make notes! You can get ideas from  mags  , the internet ,  ads  … You can still be original, but it will give you a good idea of the  right  restaurant furniture for  your style  .

Whilst style is  key  , the practicality of your restaurant furniture should also be considered. Fully upholstered chairs, for example, will  always  muffle echoes, particularly important if your restaurant has wooden floors. Glides on the bottom of wooden legs should also be specified to cut down noise. Upholstered chairs can be reinforced, removing the need for stretchers between the legs. The height of your chairs might be determined by the height of your ceilings . Low backed chairs give a more roomy feel whereas high backed chairs will draw the eye to the ceiling of a smaller restaurant.

Once you’ve established your style how do you know how many to buy? Well each diner requires an area between 1 and 2 square metres, and a width of 580mm. A  busy  restaurant using smaller furniture would be at the  lower end  of this range. Whereas  bigger  restaurants with widely spaced tables would need slightly more space . Using small tables – and even arranging them at 45° angles – can increase the number of chairs you’ll need . Well each diner  needs  an area between 1 and 2 square metres, and a width of 580mm.
